About Us

RRAR is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue focused on saving dogs and cats in Alabama’s River Region.

This rescue grew from the combined efforts of local animal lovers, veterinary professionals, and former zoo keepers who recognized the need for animal welfare attention and education in the Southeastern United States.

Our rescue is completely volunteer run and foster based, which means we do not have a facility and rely on unpaid volunteers to assist with all operations.

In our first official year, February 2024 through February 2025, we saved, treated, and rehomed 221 dogs and cats.

Our Mission

Our mission is to save the homeless, neglected, abused, and mistreated dogs and cats in Alabama’s River Region. We want to educate and empower people of all ages to show how they can make a difference in the community.

Our intention is to educate the importance of pet sterilization, animal welfare, and animal rescue. We are continuously working around the clock to support the animals in need.
